Nap time

Emma took a nap in her crib for the first time yesterday afternoon. She slept for over two hours....and so did I!

Silly Evan

Evan is doing a great job with Emma and having fun making a mess of our house! He asks to hold her and always makes sure to kiss her before leaving or going to bed. So sweet!

More pictures from the first week

First Bath

Emma took her first bath on Friday. She didn't enjoy it very much!

Jaundice

As it turned out, Emma was jaundice just like her big brother. She had to wear a biliblanket for two days and her numbers went right down. Her jaundice was caused by the little c blood antibody they discovered before my c-section. She was something called Coombs positive which means my body was attacking her red blood cells causing her to have jaundice. She is just fine now and there are no future risks associated with this!
We couldn't use cute matching outfits because of the biliblanket, but she is still cute anyways!
The little glow worm.

All hooked up in bed.

First Doctor's Appointment

We had to take Emma to her first doctor's appointment on Friday because her bilirubin numbers were high when we left the hospital. We had to have her checked for jaundice and get more blood taken at the hospital.
In the waiting room at the lab.
Adam warming up her heal before getting it pricked.

She did great and didn't cry at all when they were taking her blood. We went through this same process with Evan on his first day home!

First night at home

Evan had his first bad report from the sitter the day we came home. I think he was just out of sorts from being away from us for so long. He got home and immediately said no, but then warmed up and had fun watching Emma and even asked to hold her a few times. Emma also tried out her chair while we had dinner.

Going Home

We left the hospital around noon on Thursday. Emma slept through her whole first car ride home- I did too :)

Meeting Evan

We were so excited that Evan got to come visit in the hospital. There had been visitor restrictions at the hospital because of H1N1, but they lifted the restrictions the week before Emma was born! Evan liked pointing at her eyes, nose, mouth, etc and gave her a kiss goodbye.

Emma's First Pictures

Emma was born at 828 AM on January 18th. She as 7lb 2oz. and 19.5 in. long. She has tons of hair and looks just like her big brother! Since I had a c-section Adam got to hold her first and then I got to hold her once we got to the recovery room. She nursed right away for me in the recovery room, which was surprising since it took Evan so long to catch on to nursing! After spending about and hour in the recovery room she went upstairs and her grandparents got to watch her first bath and checkup while I finished recovering and went up to the room. I need to get pictures that they took of her first bath.....so stay tuned!

Getting Prepped and Ready

We had to be at the hospital at 530 AM last Monday for the 730 C-section. They had me prepped and ready by 6....so we had a lot of waiting to do. Just as they were about ready to take me to the operating room, the lab called and I had an antibody in my blood. So we had to wait an extra half hour while they ran some more tests. It turns out that Emma has the little C antigen in her blood and I created antibodies against it. It wasn't dangerous for this pregnancy, but if I were to get pregnant again, it could be very high risk. Here is a picture right before you left for the hospital.
Here are some pictures of us waiting.

Adam thought the fall risk bracelet was funny....he said I needed to wear it all winter.

Snow Day!

We finally have snow here. Yesterday I had an early release and today Adam and I both have a snow day. We took Evan outside to play.....as you can see he wasn't so sure about the whole experience of getting bundled up!
