Leeds Farm

***Edited to add: Be sure to check out Lisa's blog for pictures of Adam, Bart and I on the pumpkin jump!

This morning we went to a pumpkin farm with Bart, Lisa, and Carson. We had a great time playing in the hay barn, feeding the goats, looking at the pigs, sitting on a tractor, and riding in the banana bus. Evan loved picking up the hay. Adam, Bart, and I jumped on a giant pumpkin trampoline....we'll have to wait until Lisa posts on her blog to add some pictures from that. We bought a pumpkin to carve at home and a little pumpkin for Evan to take to school to paint. This will definitely be a yearly family tradition because there are a lot more activities for Evan to try as he gets older!

Michigan Shower

Adam's family had a "Meet Evan" shower this weekend in Michigam. Evan had a great time meeting all of his new family members and got some new outfits for the winter, blankets, books, and toys. Once again Evan was a great traveler during the long car ride.

My toys

Evan learned how to flip the tail of the turtle on his Exersaucer to see new pictures. He is so smart!

He is also learning how to hold his books and look at the pictures while sitting up.

Wind storm

Last Sunday Hurricane Ike brought high winds to Ohio. Columbus was hit especially bad and many areas lost power. Adam's school was one of these areas. He was off school Monday-Thursday which means he and Evan got to stay home together. They had a great time playing together and even came to visit me at school one afternoon.

Carrots

Evan tried carrots on Sunday. He makes a funny face, but seems to like them!

Meeting Baba

While in PA Evan got to meet my grandma, Baba. She is going to be 93 in November so it was very special that she got to hold him. He loved looking at her and kept trying to grab the buttons on her sweater.

First time swimming

We went to Pennsylvania this past weekend for a family anniversary party. Evan got to go swimmming for the first time in the hotel pool. He LOVED it!

The Park

We took Evan to the park in our neighborhood one night last week. He had fun swinging on the swing and going down the slide. While swinging he would start to giggle whenever he came towards us.

Sitting up

Evan is sitting without support for longer and longer periods of time each day. Here are some pictures from last weekend.

OSU vs. OU

On Saturday we went to Joe and Kim's house to watch the OSU vs. OU football game. They put a projector in their garage for everyone to watch the game on.
There were lots of babies at the party- we took a small, medium, large picture. From left to right it is Evan at 5 months, Caden at 3 months, and Riley at 10 days old.

There were both OU and OSU fans at the party, so it got pretty tense when OSU was losing....but thankfully they pulled it together and got another win!

5 months old

At 5 months old Evan is:
  • Sitting for about a minute on his own
  • Rolling both ways- but mostly from back to stomach
  • Eating cereal at dinner time- so far he has tried rice, oatmeal, and barley
  • Sleeping 8-10 hours at night and taking 3 naps
  • Wearing size 2/3 diapers
  • Just starting to wear 6-9 month clothes
  • Laughing and smiling all the time

First haircut

Evan got his first haircut on Saturday, which was also his 5 month birthday. Here are some before pictures....he definitiely needed one!

We went to a kid's salon called Cookie Cutters. The place was really neat- there was a play area and different types of seats for the kids to sit in. Evan got to sit in a police car.

Each station also had a tv hooked up to a DVD player or playstation. Evan got to watch Baby Einetein while getting his hair done! Here he is staring at the TV.

He did great until the very end when she started cutting behind his ears.

Here is the after shot. He got a certificate with a picture and a lock of his hair for being such a good boy! Doesn't he loook old now?

First Cold

After only a week in daycare...Evan caught his first cold! He is still in a pretty good mood, but sounds miserable. It makes us so sad to hear him all stuffy when he tries to breathe. We thought he would have trouble sleeping last night, but he only woke up twice and went back to sleep pretty easily after having his nose suctioned out. Today we bought a humidifier which will hopefully help him sleep tonight. Now we just have to wait and see if it is just a cold or if it is going to turn into something more. Poor baby!
